Rev. Jeffery C. Moore Installed as Director of Ministerial Recruitment
Rev. Jeffery C. Moore was installed as Director of Ministerial Recruitment for Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in a morning chapel service on Friday, April 30, 1999. Dr. John F. Johnson, President of Concordia Seminary, led the rite of installation, at the request of Dr. James Kalthoff, President of the Missouri District of The Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod.
Dr. David J. Peter, Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program at Concordia Seminary, served as preacher for the service. The sermon, based upon Psalm 23, emphasized the need to identify, inform and encourage more “under-shepherds for the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ.”
Rev. Moore brings 19 years of experience as a parish pastor to his new responsibilities at Concordia Seminary. He served for the past six years as senior pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville, Ill. Prior to this, he served congregations in Salisbury, Mo., Chiefland/Dunnellon, Fl., and Woodstock, Ga. Rev. Moore received his B.A. degree from the University of Florida and is a 1980 graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. He received a Master of Sacred Theology degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in 1996. He and his wife Lisa have two children, Anna Louise and Joshua.
“As I begin my service at Concordia Seminary, it’s exciting to see that I’m not the only person who has noticed that our Synod is desperately short of pastors. I sense that people all over the LCMS are waking up to the need to work and pray more diligently that young men will hear God’s call to pastoral ministry. I’m thankful to be able to work full time at addressing such a critical need.”
Rev. Moore joins Rev. David A. Faulkner and Rev. Michael J. Redeker, both admission counselors, in the admissions office at Concordia Seminary. “We are delighted to have someone with Rev. Moore’s experience in parish ministry leading our admissions team,” commented Rev. Glen D. Thomas, Vice President for Seminary Relations at Concordia, “He is a respected pastor with different types of parishes in his pastoral experience. He will bring a great deal of insight and discernment to this important position in our Lord’s church.”
