Concordia Seminary Chorus Announces Advent Tour
The Concordia Seminary Chorus, St. Louis, Missouri, announces its 2000 Advent Tour. The Rev. Henry V. Gerike is the director of the choir. The Concordia Seminary Chorus will present a service of congregational hymns, readings and settings of psalms and spiritual songs for the season of Advent on the following dates:
December 13, 2000 at 7 p.m. – Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Collinsville, Illinois
December 14, 2000 at 7 p.m. – Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri
December 15, 2000 at 7 p.m. – Trinity Lutheran Church, Darmstadt, Indiana
December 16, 2000 at 6 p.m. – Our Savior Lutheran Church, Louisville, Kentucky
December 17, 2000 at 2:30 p.m. – St. John Lutheran Church, Lanesville, Indiana
The music for the service has been specifically selected to reflect the season of Advent. Handbells will be used to accompany “The Magnificat” by Healey Willan. The service concludes with the hymn “Lo! He Comes with Clouds Descending.”
The touring choir of the Concordia Seminary Chorus consists of students who are preparing to become pastors in The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. They represent a portion of the full Concordia Seminary Chorus, which numbers over 100 singers.
