At 7:00 p.m. on June 13, a celebration will take place in the Seminary's Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus featuring select musicians from the St. Louis area Lutheran high schools, a delivery of the sermon preached at the dedication of the campus in 1926 by Dr. John W. Behnken, an address on the future direction of Concordia Seminary by Dr. John F. Johnson and a procession by representatives from classes which have graduated from the current campus. The evening's activities will conclude with worship, following a brief order of evening prayer.
"We look forward to celebrating the 75th anniversary of what remains an unparalleled event in the history of The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod," commented Rev. Glen Thomas, vice president for seminary relations at Concordia Seminary. "On June 13, 1926, a crowd estimated by the "St. Louis Post-Dispatch" to be 75,000 people assembled for the campus dedication. It remains the single largest gathering of Lutheran Church Missouri Synod members and points to the central role of Concordia Seminary in the life and mission of the church. We encourage as many as possible to join us on June 13 as we give thanks to God for His blessings on this campus over the past 75 years."
Both services will be broadcast by KFUO radio, 850 AM. Sound files from the morning and evening services also will be available for listening on the Seminary's web site (www.csl.edu) following June 13.
