Concordia Seminary Chorus Donates CDs to Military Chaplains

The Concordia Seminary Chorus, represented by director Rev. Henry V. Gerike, donated 1,000 copies of its "Jubilee" CD recording to The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS) Ministry to the Armed Forces. Chap. Rodger R. Venzke, director of the LCMS Ministry to the Armed Forces, received the gift during the Seminary's morning chapel service on Feb. 18. The CD, a collection of 25 hymns, will be distributed primarily to military chaplains.

"We are confident that our chaplains will have many opportunities to use these recordings to enhance their worship services, even in the most isolated regions," commented Venzke.

The Concordia Seminary Chorus has a 102-year history. In the past 13 years, the Chorus has released eight recordings in CD and cassette format. Prior to Christmas 2003, the Chorus released its latest recording, "Hope." This recording features the singing of the Centennial Chorus (2002), Laudamus (a smaller group from the Chorus) and the Seminary Chorus itself.

"Concordia Seminary Chorus is happy to provide our military chaplains with this CD recording of hymns," commented Gerike. "We pray that it will be a help to them as they minister to the men and women of our armed forces."
