A new series of audio/video podcasts exploring the Lutheran doctrine of the Two Kingdoms is available for download, free of charge, on “Concordia Seminary on iTunes U.” The moderator of the 15-minute talk show is Dr. Uwe Siemon-Netto, director of the Institute on Lay Vocation at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. In each segment, Siemon-Netto answers questions posed by a pastor or lay person about specific aspects of the doctrine.

A special three-part SemCast, in which Seminary president Dr. Dale A. Meyer interviews Siemon-Netto, outlines the doctrine of the Two Kingdoms and serves as the basis for the new “question and answer” podcast series. In each subsequent segment, Siemon-Netto addresses a different issue dealing with the doctrine’s impact on Christian life. Topics include politics, vocation, race, sex, aesthetics, war, immigration and the arts.

“I consider of the Two Kingdoms doctrine one of the most important treasures the Lutheran Church can offer to remedy the spiritual and ethical confusion of the postmodern world,” commented Siemon-Netto. “This doctrine is the perfect antidote against the ‘Me’ mentality plaguing our society. The doctrine of the Two Kingdoms points to the Christian’s obligation to serve the other, the neighbor, lovingly and teaches us how to engage the world rather than succumb to or eschew it.”

Podcasts are recorded weekly, and eight audio/video files are currently available. The series will include approximately 30-50 total installments.
