Call Day Set for April 29 at Concordia Seminary
Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, invites the public to share in the joy of Call Day on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Fourth-year and second-year students will receive their calls and vicarage assignments, respectively, into the ministry at the 2014 Call Day services.
Students who will serve as vicars next year will receive their assignments at a worship service starting at 3:00 p.m. (CDT) at Concordia Seminary’s Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus. Rev. Dale L. Sattgast, president of the South Dakota District, will serve as preacher.
Candidates for the pastoral ministry will receive their first calls to serve as pastors, chaplains, and missionaries for The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod at a 7:00 p.m. (CDT) worship service also to be held at the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus. Rev. Russell L. Sommerfeld, president of the Nebraska District, will serve as preacher.
Concordia Seminary will provide free live streaming of Call Day services at http://callday.csl.edu/ for those who are unable to attend. The helpdesk will be staffed to handle support calls at 1-866-333-2064 and 314-505-7231. A test stream will be up a few days before the event for people to test their computers in advance.
The live streaming is a great opportunity for churches and their congregations to celebrate with the new vicar or pastor who will soon be a part of their church families. One way they can participate is by hosting a viewing event for their congregation.
The vicarage assignments and calls will be posted on Concordia Seminary’s website immediately following each service.
