After Chapel Concert Series Debuts
The After Chapel Concert Series debuted Oct. 2 in the chapel balcony with an organ recital by our very own Drs. Jim Marriott and David Maxwell. Maxwell played “Litanies” by Jehan Alain and Felix Mendelssohn’s “Andante Tranquillo” from Sonata III. Marriott played three variations of “Lord, Thee I Love.” In the second concert of the series, Rev. Yaroslav Bochenko, pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria, Russia, held a piano recital Oct. 23. Speaking to the audience using a translator, Bochenko said, “You can hear how music can be prayer.” After the concert, students were invited to talk with Bochenko and view displays about the history of the Lutheran church in Russia. The concert series aims to enrich the musical life of the Seminary community.
