Series examines Gospel of Matthew
“Who is Jesus?” This is the question at the heart of the 2018 Advent Sermon Series, published by Concordia Seminary Press of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis and now available for download here.
“Who is Jesus: An Advent-Christmas Sermon Series” is written by Dr. R. Reed Lessing, former professor of Exegetical Theology and current senior pastor of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Ind.
In this series, Lessing explores the lineage of Jesus as presented in the Gospel of Matthew 1:1-17.
“With so many competing definitions of Jesus, we need Matthew 1:1-25,” Lessing says. “This text gives us an accurate picture of our Savior that is rooted in Israel’s turbulent and agonizing history. It is a history that demonstrates God’s radical faithfulness and love for His people.”
The downloadable PDF includes full manuscripts for the four weeks of Advent and Christmas, as well as full liturgies, which can be used for both midweek and Sunday services.
This sermon series is available for $14.95 in the Seminary’s online store here.
