Registration opens for Lay Bible Institute on Jesus as the Word
Workshop set for Feb. 8
Registration is now open for the Lay Bible Institute “Solum Verbum: What Word Alone Can Do in the Gospel According to John.” Led by Professor of Exegetical Theology Dr. Bruce Schuchard, the workshop will delve into the significance of Jesus as “the Word” in the Gospel of John.
The workshop will be held Feb. 8, 2025, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in Sieck Hall on the campus of Concordia Seminary.
“The Gospel of John begins with an intriguing assertion,” Schuchard said. “John states, ‘In the beginning was the Word’ (John 1:1 ESV). What is John meaning to suggest about Jesus? We will spend the day exploring this question, examining what the Gospel of John has especially to say about the word of the Word made flesh.”
Register for this event at csl.edu/lbi by Jan. 24, 2025. The fee is $20 per person without lunch or $35 with lunch. However, this event is free for all Concordia Seminary students and spouses, without lunch.
The Lay Bible Institute, offered three times a year by Concordia Seminary faculty members, is an ongoing study of the Bible and how it relates to today’s life and events.
