Dr. Kevin Golden is associate professor of Exegetical Theology, dean of Theological Research and Publication, and director of Resident Field Education at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. He joined the faculty in 2021.
He previously served as pastor of Village Lutheran Church, Ladue, Mo. (2009-21), and as pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, Holts Summit, Mo. (2002-09). Golden earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and his Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Concordia Seminary (2010, 1999). In 1995, Golden received a Bachelor of Arts in antiquities and religious studies, graduating summa cum laude in the Honors College at Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo.
Golden taught at Calvary Lutheran High School, Jefferson City, Mo. (2005-09). He also served as a guest instructor at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind. (2007, 2009), and at Concordia Seminary (2000-02; 2009-14; 2017-21) teaching Old Testament courses, Greek and Hebrew.
Golden’s research experience includes Hosea, biblical usage of the divine name, Genesis 6-9, Jonah, the Book of the Twelve (Minor Prophets) and biblical intertextuality.
He is the author of “Blessed Be His Name: Revealing the Sacred Names of God” (Concordia Publishing House, 2021), “God’s Own Son Is Born A Child”(Concordia Publishing House, 2019) and “LifeLight: Minor Prophets” (Concordia Publishing House, 2009). He contributed to the festschrift, “The Mercy of God in the Cross of Christ: Essays on Mercy in Honor of Glenn Merritt” (LCMS, 2016). He is a frequent contributor to the “Concordia Theological Quarterly” and “Concordia Pulpit Resources.”
Golden is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature (2003-present) and joined the Evangelical Theological Society in 2022. He served as the second vice-president of the LCMS Missouri District (2012-15; 2018-22) and has served on the district’s finance committee and as an advisory member of the district’s Board of Directors and for the Board for Family Life and Youth Ministry. He has served in a variety of roles for Humanitri, St. Louis, including serving on the Board of Directors (2013-20); chairman of the advancement committee (2016-17); chairman of the jail chaplaincy committee (2017-19); and as secretary of the board (2018–20). He also has served on a number of other organizational boards, and in pastoral roles such as chaplain and adviser.
Golden lives in suburban St. Louis with his wife, Joy. Their union has been blessed with seven living children.
