The second Bach at the Sem concert of the 2010-2011 season will be performed on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus on the Concordia Seminary campus.

This concert will complete Bach’s Mass in B Minor that was begun in the Oct. 10 concert. The American Kantorei will perform the nine parts of Symbolum Nicenum (Bach’s title for the Credo); the Sanctus; and finish with the Osanna, Benedictus, Osanna, Agnus Dei, and Dona nobis pacem. The assembly will sing “Prepare the Royal Highway.”

Soloists for this concert include Joy Boland, soprano; Jane Robinson, alto; Dallas Dubke, bass-baritone; Joshua Stanton, tenor; Katharine Lawton Brown, mezzo soprano; and Paula Kasica, flute. Bach’s organ prelude on the hymn, “We All Believe in One True God,” will be performed by Dennis Bergin, organist for Bach at the Sem.

The American Kantorei is a choral and orchestral ensemble dedicated to the performance of church music from the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Neoclassical periods. The works of J. S. Bach form the core of its repertoire. Music Director and Conductor Robert Bergt is known as a symphonic and chorale conductor with a specialization in the music of Bach and other masters of the Baroque Period. Bach at the Sem is funded largely through the generosity of individual supporters.
