St. Baldrick's Foundation Shaving Event on Feb. 10
For the third year in a row, Concordia Seminary is participating in the St. Baldrick’s Foundation Shaving Event on Monday, February 10 at 5:30 p.m. in Koburg Dining Hall on the Concordia Seminary campus. Money raised will benefit research to find a cure for childhood cancers.
Again this year, Dr. Dale Meyer, president of Concordia Seminary, has volunteered to be a “shavee,” along with many students, faculty and staff.
Since partnering with St. Baldrick’s in 2012, Concordia has raised $15,056 for the foundation and had 49 volunteers to shave their heads in support. This year’s goal is to raise another $8,000 and see 35 “shavees.”
St. Baldrick’s head-shaving events give “shavees” a way to show their support by voluntarily shaving their heads in an effort to inspire friends and family to donate funds for childhood cancer research. Stylists Katie and Shannon from the Richmond Center Great Clips hair salon will be shaving heads on site for their third year as well.
Those interested in being a “shavee” for this event must register by Friday, February 7. Others may register as a volunteer and serve as treasurers or help with registering people on the day of the event.
Of course, a vital way people can show their support is by donating in honor of those who are currently battling cancer, or in memory of those who have lost that battle.
