LutherHostel 2009 Wraps Up At Concordia Seminary
An enthusiastic group of adults, age 55 and above, participated in LutherHostel 2009, held Oct. 3-6 on the campus of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Rev. John Nunes, president and CEO of Lutheran World Relief, was the main presenter for the event. Participants experienced Seminary class instruction and attended presentations by Seminary faculty on the theme, “Finite and Infinite Games.”
Rev. Walter Schoedel and his wife Leota were the host couple for the event. Bible studies were led by Professors Thomas Egger and David Lewis. Professor Timothy Saleska and Senior Vice President for Seminary Advancement Paul Devantier gave faculty presentations.
Scheduled activities began on Saturday evening with an Oktoberfest dinner. Additional activities included a pipe organ demonstration in The Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus, student-led evening devotions and a reception at the home of President and Mrs. Dale Meyer. A tour of the LCMS International Center and its Concordia Historical Institute was a highlight of the event. Some participants enjoyed the optional tour of the Saxon Lutheran sites in Perry County on October 7, immediately following the LutherHostel.
LutherHostel 2010 will take place on Oct. 2-5 with Dr. Paul A. Maier as guest speaker. The optional Perry County tour will take place on Oct. 6.
