Dr. Norman E. Nagel, graduate professor of systematic theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, will retire at the close of the winter quarter of the 2005-2006 academic year after 22 years of distinguished service. The quarter ends on Feb. 17, 2006.

“Our Lord has been astonishingly generous in putting me into the Office of the Holy Ministry, and by culminating my work at Concordia Seminary with tasks and colleagues beyond imagining,” commented Nagel. “Deep thanks to our Lord, to my brothers in the Office of the Holy Ministry, to faithful family and friends, and all delightful companions along the way.”

Nagel, a graduate of Concordia Seminary (1953), was ordained in 1954 at Luther-Tyndale Church, London, England. He has served as instructor at Concordia College, Adelaide, Australia (1947); pastor at Luther-Tyndale Church, London, England (1954-57); pastor and preceptor at Westfield House Church, Cambridge, England (1957-68); dean of the Chapel of the Resurrection, preacher and professor of theology at Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Ind. (1968-83); and visiting professor at Martin Luther Seminary, Lae, Papua New Guinea (1975). Nagel has served Concordia Seminary as a visiting professor (1981-83), professor (1983-92), graduate professor since 1992 and chairman of the department of systematic theology (1986-92, 1994-95).
