Concordia Seminary Presidential Candidates Announced
Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, is pleased to announce the list of candidates who have given formal permission to have their names stand in nomination to serve as the 10th president of the Seminary. The list of 15 candidates includes:

The Seminary’s Presidential Search Committee will prepare for the electors a final report with a recommendation as to the nominees (at least five) it believes should be considered for election. The Seminary’s Presidential Search Committee includes Professors Dr. Charles P. Arand, Dr. Paul W. Robinson, Dr. Timothy E. Saleska, David R. Schmitt, Dr. William W. Schumacher and Dr. James W. Voelz. Also included on the committee are the following members from the Seminary’s Board of Regents: Dr. James F. Ralls Jr., Richard L. Wenz and Dr. John D. Wittenmyer, with alternate member Rev. David V. Dissen.
The electors who will vote to issue the call to a particular nominee are the members of the Seminary’s Board of Regents (voting collectively with one vote), the district president elected to the Seminary’s Board of Regents (Dr. Arleigh L. Lutz, North Wisconsin District), the president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (Dr. Gerald B. Kieschnick) and the chairman of the Synod’s Board for Pastoral Education (John M. Behrendt).
The slate of candidates to be interviewed during the election meetings will be finalized on April 26. A series of interviews with the final nominees will take place, and the election to determine who will receive the call to serve as president of Concordia Seminary will take place on May 11. The announcement of the candidates chosen by the electors will be webcast from the Seminary’s Web site (www.csl.edu), as well as a short news conference with the candidate shortly thereafter. More details regarding the announcement, news conference and webcast will be released through CSLNEWS and the Seminary’s Web site as the date draws closer.
