Hartung Joins Seminary Faculty
Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, announces that Bruce M. Hartung has accepted the call extended to him to serve as associate professor of practical theology and director of continuing education. Hartung will begin his new responsibilities Dec. 1.
Hartung has served as executive director of the Commission on Ministerial Growth and Support of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod since 1993, and as director of LCMS Health Ministries since 1991.
"To return to my alma mater to serve it and its students as a member of the faculty and to serve the workers of the church as the director of continuing education is both an honor and a delight," commented Hartung. "I pray that my work will be both pleasing to God in Christ and helpful to others."
Hartung received the B.A. degree from Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1963; the M.Div. (1967) and S.T.M. (1969) degrees from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis; and the Ph.D. degree from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., in 1971. He is also a licensed clinical psychologist for the State of Illinois and a diplomate for the American Association of Pastoral Counselors. His previous positions have included that of executive director of the Onondaga Pastoral Counseling Center, Syracuse, N. Y.; and director of the Pastoral Counseling Center of Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, Ill.
His wife, Judy, is past president of the Concordia Seminary Guild.
