Dr. Dale A. Meyer, president of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, as well as students, faculty and staff will voluntarily shave their heads during the St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving fundraiser. Some participants have grown their hair and beards for weeks in anticipation of this event.

What: For the seventh time, Concordia Seminary will “brave a shave” and participate in the St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving fundraiser. This year’s goal is to raise $11,000 to help fund research to find a cure for childhood cancers.

When: 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1

More information: Since partnering with St. Baldrick’s in 2012, Concordia Seminary has raised more than $58,000 for the foundation thanks to the volunteers who forego their hair in support of this worthwhile cause.

St. Baldrick’s head-shaving events give “shavees” a way to show their support by voluntarily shaving their heads in an effort to inspire friends and family to donate funds for childhood cancer research. Stylists from Great Clips in the Hampton Village Shopping Center will shave heads on-site for their seventh year as well.
