Loum’s mission work continues
Dr. John Loum, the Seminary’s director of the Ethnic Immigrant Institute of Theology, recently returned to the United States after having spent several months as a missionary in The Gambia, his home country. He will return to The Gambia in October.
Loum’s part-time mission work is a partnership between Concordia Seminary and The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS).
While in The Gambia, Loum largely focused on teaching Lutheran doctrine to an established group of Christians. Along with teaching and catechizing the pastor and lay leaders of the church, he also taught at the Lutheran school in the village of Abuko. Many of the people he served are Muslims who have been treated by LCMS mercy medical teams. He is translating several Lutheran publications, including Luther’s Small Catechism.
