Concordia Seminary, St. Louis President Dr. Dale A. Meyer is taking the voices from the front lines of ministry to the air waves of KFUO in a new weekly program called “Word and Work: An Intersection.” The program will air at 2 p.m. Thursdays (CT) on KFUO AM 850 or www.kfuo.org beginning in September.

In addition to the radio program, the Concordia Theology website will feature videos of the interviews as well as the accompanying audio segments, both of which can be downloaded here.

“Word and Work” provides a behind-the-scenes look at ministry where everyday life and God’s Word meet. Each episode features Meyer interviewing a different guest — including pastors, faculty members, authors, students, missionaries, lay people and church officials.

“To inform and stimulate, that’s what I hope ‘Word and Work: An Intersection’ will do,” Meyer said. “The more informed we are about what’s really going on in the church, the more we’ll be equipped to join with others in taking the Word of Christ into work and daily life. Join us, and pray for our mission.”

The first program of “Word and Work” featured Dr. Charles Arand, the Seminary’s Eugene E. and Nell S. Fincke Graduate Professor of Theology, and Dean of Theological Research and Publication. The two men discussed the 2017 edition of Luther’s Small Catechism with Explanation from Concordia Publishing House (CPH). Arand served as a drafter on The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod committee responsible for revising the Explanation.

This week’s program features Dr. Joel Biermann, the Waldemar A. and June Schuette Professor of Systematic Theology, discussing his book, Wholly Citizens, and the relationship of church and world in light of Luther’s teachings. Next week’s program features Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) Iowa District East President Dr. Brian Saunders discussing the role of LCMS districts in the hierarchy of the church and the important interface with congregations and their communities.
