Registration opens for 30th Annual Theological Symposium

Event set for Sept. 17-18

Registration is now open for the 30th Annual Theological Symposium, "Devoted: (Re)forming the Devotional Life," set for Sept. 17-18 at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.

Those interested in attending can register here. For the first time, participants can preregister for individual sessions.

Pastors, deaconesses, ministry leaders and faithful believers will enjoy Christ-centered edification and instruction during this year's symposium, which will feature thought-provoking plenaries and breakout sessions that spark dialogue around the question of what it means to live wholehearted, Christ-centered lives. Attendees will leave refreshed and equipped with the necessary tools to (re)form their devotional lives.

Highlights include plenaries led by Seminary professors Dr. David Schmitt, Dr. Charles Arand, Dr. Timothy Saleska and Dr. Bruce Hartung. The event also will include time for reflection and recreation. Participants are encouraged to arrive on campus a day early for a golf outing sponsored by the LCMS Foundation, Monday, Sept. 16. Space is limited for this free event.

Join us at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, in Werner Auditorium for the Fifth Annual Dr. Jack Dean Kingsbury Lecture in New Testament Theology with Dr. James W. Voelz, the Dr. Jack Dean Kingsbury Professor of New Testament Theology. The lecture, "‘For Want of a Nail ...': The Importance of Details both Small and Great for Biblical Interpretation," will start with the most insignificant item (a single letter), and move through forms, words, phrases, verses, pericopes and whole chapters, attempting to demonstrate that important meaning is conveyed to the reader/hearer at every level of textual interpretation.

Be sure and share photos and other symposium details with your friends and family on social media using the hashtags, #CSLDevoted and #CSLSymposium.

Early bird registration for the symposium is $140 per person through July 17, after which time the fee increases to $160. Meals are included. Registration will close Aug. 17. A limited amount of on-campus housing is available.
