#GiveGreenandGold Day raises record-breaking $85k
Scores of donors contribute, double giving goal
Hundreds of friends and supporters joined together Sept. 26 to support Concordia Seminary’s fourth annual #GiveGreenandGold Day. This year’s event raised $84,750, more than double the campaign goal of $40,000.
“Our friends and supporters are truly awesome,” said Vicki Biggs, senior vice president of Seminary Advancement and chief communications officer. “Their joyful and enthusiastic giving will positively affect the Seminary’s ongoing mission of forming future pastors, deaconesses and other ministry leaders to shepherd our congregations and to share the Gospel worldwide. These two simple words – thank you – are conveyed with a great depth of feeling; we are immensely grateful.”
Thanks to a special matching opportunity, donors were able to double their gifts dollar for dollar up to the first $20,000 raised. Gifts raised from the campaign’s 550 donors will be used where needed most as the Seminary carries out its mission. By comparison, 284 supporters raised $49,845 for the 2021 #GiveGreenandGold Day campaign.
Faculty, staff, students and their families celebrated the day by enjoying treats from an ice cream truck on campus. Buttons featuring campus landmarks were given out and students received handwritten notes of encouragement from the Seminary’s donors.
“When I spoke with our students on Give Green and Gold Day, I kept hearing how thankful they are for the donors who support the mission of Concordia Seminary,” said Megan Duncan, the Seminary’s manager of annual giving and the Give Green and Gold Day campaign manager. “The notes from our donors were especially meaningful.”
Seminary supporters were encouraged to share #GiveGreenandGold on their social networks. By the end of the campaign, the online giving page had been visited by more than 600 people in six countries.
While the #GiveGreenandGold Day campaign has ended, interested donors can still give to the Seminary.
The fifth annual #GiveGreenandGold Day is set for Sept. 25, 2023.
