Description
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) Southern Illinois District Prison Ministry Task Force will have its annual conference Monday, April 15, through Tuesday, April 16, at Concordia Seminary in Koburg Hall. The conference called the “2024 Prison Ministry Coordinators Conference” will include expert guest speakers, working sessions, resource sharing, Q&A time and more! This is a great resource for existing prison ministries and an excellent introduction for those interested in starting a prison ministry. It is open to all LCMS districts. Registration is $100 and includes one night of lodging, conference materials and meals and snacks. Space is limited. Scholarships are available to help with travel for those who have a need.
Participants are encouraged to explore prison ministry opportunities in their districts even if none exist. The conference will be an introduction to prison ministry opportunities and resources. Sessions will include presentations from Rev. Tim Carter, author of the book The Executioner's Redemption, and representatives from the LCMS Office of National Mission, LCMS Prison Ministry, Concordia Publishing House, Lutheran Braille Workers, Lutheran Heritage Foundation, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Lutheran Hour Ministries. A pilot program at a federal prison in Greenville, Ill., also will be introduced.
To register for the conference, send an email to Jeff Fick, the administrator for the LCMS Southern Illinois District, at [email protected]. He will reply to the email with a link to registration details.
